WP 39: Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) at FLASH and XFEL

Both FLASH and XFEL are large and extended facilities where many different electric and electronic systems have to operate without disturbing each other. Such a state of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be achieved by applying methods which

• reduce the noise emittance of sources,
• reduce the noise susceptibility of receptors,
• reduce the coupling between sources and receptors.

One also encounters the abbreviation EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). EMC is having EMI under control.
