Minutes of the EMI/EMC Working Group Meeting on 30/05/05 ======================================================== Present: H.J.Eckoldt, M.Görler, P.Göttlicher, N.Heidbrook, J.P.Jensen, ======= H.Kapitza, E.A.Knabbe, O.Kröplin, R.Saust, H.Schlarb, K.Schönbeck, S.Schreiber, L.Schreiter, H.Weddig, M.Werner Presentations: ============= The meeting presentations have been combined into one PDF file which was put into the EMI Elogbook: 1. EMI Steering Group Report (Herbert Kapitza) 2. TTF Grounding Scheme Modifications (Knut Schönbeck) 3. Grounding for an Electronic Hut (Peter Göttlicher) 4. Notes on EOS Container Grounding (Axel Knabbe) Comments: ======== 1. Due to technical problems the presentation "Potentialausgleich in Gebäuden" by Oliver Kröplin was postponed till the next meeting. 2. - I'll try to say this in English as well: Because of multiple massive ground connections between different installation components it is not easy to control the current paths and the size of ground loops. A survey of all metal installations with ground relevance would be extremely helpful. It will be discussed in a smaller group, how to best take care of this. 3. Discussion of presentation 3: - Presentation 4 shows for a concrete example (EOS hut) how to break noise current paths by means of DC blocks and an isolating transformer. - Avoid close parallel routing of signal and power cables. If you can't, use shielding against crosstalk. 4. There was some discussion about the modified magnet power supplies without a formal presentation. This will be given in the next meeting. 5. Next meeting: 27/06/05 11:00 Rm 459 Bldg 30b. Topics: 1. Potentialausgleich in Gebäuden 2. Filters for Magnet Power Supplies 3. EMI Measurements in the Laser Hut 6. I will be on vacation during 04-18/06/05. H.Kapitza
